Interracial/Multiracial Celebrities Sightings At The 2013 Golden Globes Awards…

The Golden Globe Award is an accolade bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented is a major part of the film industry’s awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.

The broadcast of the Golden Globe Awards, telecast to 167 countries worldwide, generally ranks as the third most-watched awards show each year, behind only the Oscars and the Grammy Awards.

Until Ricky Gervais hosted the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards Ceremony in 2010, the award ceremony was one of two major Hollywood award ceremonies (the other being the Screen Actors Guild Awards) that did not have a regular host; every year a different presenter introduced the ceremony at the beginning of the broadcast. Gervais returned to host the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards in 2011, and the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards in 2012.

Interracial/Multiracial Celebrities & Fashion…

As a result of importance of the event, actors and invited guests alike have made it a tradition to look their very best. From the rental of the most exquisite and expensive jewelry, to some of the most intricate gowns, the Golden Globe Awards is never lacking in fashion. However, there was a serious case of bad dresses on good bodies at this year’s Golden Globes.

From Lucy Liu in what could only have been inspired by wallpaper, to Emily Mortimer’s sequined style sin, the stylists in charge should surely be sacked. Halle Berry, who has one of the most sensational figures in Tinseltown, failed to impress on the red carpet in a cutaway printed gown.

The design, by Versace, appeared to have been carelessly sliced apart at the midriff and thigh, and the bodice seemed far too tight, even on a waist as slim as Halle’s. The split in the dated pink printed skirt did at least allow the star to do her best impression of ‘Angelina’s leg’, and the nude court shoes were, at least, an elegant, understated choice.

Supermodel Heidi Klum also went for the same hairstyle as she graced the red-carpet looking white hot in a dramatic sweeping dress with sparkling beaded trim. The one-sleeved gown was slashed at the thigh, displaying plenty of the former Victoria’s Secret Angel‘s impeccably toned and tanned leg.

That being said, there weren’t too many fashion faux pas at the Golden Globes this year. Perhaps years of attacks from fashion police has taught the A-list that it is wiser to play it safe in flattering black and ethereal beiges and nudes.

Surprise Guest…

In what may be one of the most memorable moments of the show, Bill Clinton shocked an audience full of Hollywood heavyweights as he appeared at the Golden Globes to present the film Lincoln. Mr Clinton introduced Lincoln, the film chronicling the fight to abolish slavery, and joked about his experience passing through unpopular legislation.

‘A tough fight to push a bill through a bitterly divided Congress. Winning it required the president to make a lot of unsavory deals that had nothing to do with the big issue. I wouldn’t know anything about that,’ he said.

His appearance impressed even the most famous actors, as several were seen taking pictures with their cell phones while Mr Clinton was on stage. After announcing his name the cameras cut to the crowd, who immediately jumped to their feet to honor the former president.

Golden Globes After-party…

Most people expect at these glitzy awards parties, the menus to feature the finest foods from across the world. But at the Harvey Weinstein’s, InStyle, HBO after Golden Globes bashes, the palettes were far less refined, which didn’t seem to bother the host of celebrities who were there to loosen up and party.

Guests were also treated to a live performance by ‘The Saturdays’ performed at the Golden Globes After-party. The fivesome looked glamorous as they took to the stage at the event and their stylish outfits complemented their stunning looks. The girls coordinated their clothing and a went with a theme of gold and white for the performance with Mollie King and Vanessa White standing out thanks to their shimmering gold skirts.

Heidi Klum happily chowed down on some french fries loaded with tomato sauce. The juxtaposition of the fast food and Heidi’s jewel encrusted outfit created a rather funny image, and with that in mind, the 39-year old’s earlier actions certainly added to the hilarity.

Even Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa couldn’t have looked any happier at the After-party. Just a few days after announcing they had cancelled their divorce, the pair appeared blissfully in love as they attended a party following the Golden Globes.

KolorBlind Couple of the Month (January ’13): Shakira and Michael Caine

Young Michael Caine and Shakira Caine in 1973This month’s KolorBlind couple are Shakira and Michael Caine. Mr & Mrs Caine have been married for 39 years (1973).

Sir Caine, actor/author and winner of a BAFTA, Golden Globe and Academy Award, is notably known for his roles in ‘Educating Rita‘, ‘Hannah and Her Sisters‘, the Dark Knight trilogy and a host of other chart-topping box office movies.

His wife Shakira Caine nee Baksh is a former model and actress.

Sir Michael Caine, who in 2000, Caine was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his contribution to cinema is an icon in our present generation. He is one of only two actors nominated for an Academy Award for acting in every decade from the 1960s to 2000s (the other one being Jack Nicholson).

young Michael caineThe award-winning actor was fascinated at the sight of Shakira Baksh, born in Guyana to a Muslim family of Asian descent, who has been his wife for the past 39 years.

Sir Michael fell for Shakira, a former Miss Guyana, after spotting her in a Maxwell House ad. Intrigued, he got her number  from a friend who worked in advertising. After several calls, she agreed to meet him.

By then, he was downing three bottles of vodka a day. Under Shakira’s influence, he straightened himself out, set about perfecting his craft and discovered the joys of gardening.

The couple’s union is blessed with 39 year-old daughter, Natasha Haleema; although Sir Caine has a daughter from his previous marriage.

Since finding fame as a cocky womanizer in Alfie, Sir Michael Caine has worked with some of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. But he has only ever had eyes for one leading lady – his wife Shakira.

For 35 years their marriage has been rock solid and they have been inseparable. Michael is justifiably proud that he has never strayed – despite temptation being constantly thrown in his path.

“I was always doing love scenes with very beautiful women,” says Sir Michael, 75. “You can go on the set and there’ll be one of the most beautiful women in the world and the director will say, ‘Take your clothes off and get into bed.’

“That could be a great temptation so I decided that I would never marry a woman who wasn’t as beautiful as the women I was working with. And I married a woman who, in actual fact, is more beautiful than most women I have worked with, so all the temptation was at home, not at work.”

With a throaty cackle, he adds: “So I rush home to get some temptation. People ask me, ‘Where do you go for your holidays?’ I say, ‘I go home.’”

Throughout their marriage they’ve rarely been apart. Shakira, 60, even sacrificed her jewelry design business to travel with Michael on film shoots.

“If you go away on location for three months and your wife stays at home, you’ve made a whole new load of friends and she’s made a whole new load of friends and you get home and you’re kind of strangers,” he explains.

“My wife comes with me on all the movies, but she is not an appendage to a film star or anything like that. She is a completely intertwined partner. She is the other half of me. Also, we’re still very much in love with each other. We always have been, we always will be.”

Michael Caine and Shakira CaineNot only is their love one to be desired, their passion for each other and the examples they set by just being themselves is a perfect example of what it means to be KolorBlind.

Relationship advice from the Caine’:

  1. To all the gentlemen reading this, marry a woman you’ll find attractive 20 years from now.
  2. Take Sir Michael’s advice and only marry a woman who compliments.
  3. Never stay apart for too long as it might kill your romance.
  4. To the women out there, take a cue from the gorgeous Mrs. Caine and do all you can to make sure your career doesn’t overshadow your marriage.

The Caines’ are proof that after 39 years, there is no such thing as love fizzling. Their love for one another is just as passionate as it was when they first met.

This is another couple who truly live by the words “till death do us part”…

We wish you many more wonderful years together. You’re an inspiration to all KolorBlind men and women out there. Keep the flame burning!

KolorBlind Spotlight: Robert De Niro … acting, producing & directing his KolorBlind life!

Robert De Niro, Jr. or as he will forever be remembered Vito Corleone in The Godfather Part II is an American movie legend.

The man known as De Niro was born in Greenwich Village, New York City although his ancestry includes (most of what is known today as Western Europe) Italian, Irish, English, German, French, and Dutch. Artistry is a natural gift for this man as it runs in the family; the son of  a painter and poet, and an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor on his paternal side, it didn’t take him too long to find his calling.

After a series of small movie roles, he shot to limelight in the 1974 release of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part II, playing the young Vito Corleone.  The director had remembered his previous auditions for the roles of Sonny Corleone, Michael Corleone, Carlo Rizzi and Paulie Gatto, in The Godfather.

This outstanding performance earned him his first Academy Award, for Best Supporting Actor. He became the first actor to win an Academy Award speaking mainly a foreign language, in this case, multiple Sicilian dialects (although he delivered a few lines in English).

Film Career

De Niro has been featured in over 88 movies and has directed over 31 movies to date, this is in addition to several award nominations and wins:

Academy Award

BAFTA Award

To state that he’s had a successful career in Hollywood is an understatement. He’s one of the most respected actors in our era. His passion for the arts led him to co-found the film studio TriBeCa Productions and the popular Tribeca Film Festival.

He is also known as a very successful business man who has co-founded three of America’s most successful restaurants. While other Hollywood elites have ventured into the hospitality industry and failed, De Niro continues to thrive. His ventures include New York’s Nobu and TriBeCa Grill, which he co-owns with a developer Paul Wallace and Broadway producer Stewart F. Lane. In addition, he owns Ocanda Verde a restaurant inside of  Tribeca’s Greenwich Hotel run by executive chef and co-owner, Andrew Carmellini.

According to the July 2010 issue of Gourmet magazine, De Niro is in negotiations with an internationally renowned chef, Natalia Jibladze, to launch a yet unnamed restaurant in Manhattan under his Tribeca trademark.

He was in Malaysia recently, and while having lunch with the Malaysian Prime Minister’s wife, was asked to open a Malay restaurant in Alor Setar– Kedah, Malaysia.

The man is a genius in the  hospitality industry, his business sense is one to emulated.

De Niro’s career and accomplishments are too many to list. However, one of his recent project is the support of an initiative called A Logo for Human Rights. The project’s goal is to create an internationally recognized logo to support the global human rights movement

Not only is De Niro a veteran actor, director, producer, political activist and humanitarian, he is also KolorBlind. De Niro has been married to actress Grace Hightower for 15 years. Although the relationship suffered a few setbacks and almost collapsed, they were able to rekindle their love.

The De Niros have a total of six (6) children between them. De Niro is father of four (4) children (Drena, Raphael who are pictured above and biracial twins Julian Henry and Aaron Kendrik with former model Toukie Smith). With Hightower he has two children Elliott and Helen Grace.

De Niro is a great example of a caring and nurturing father, wonderful husband, and is a role model for the KolorBlind family. Thank you for all you’ve done, all you continue to do and the legacy that will outlive you.

Wishing you peace, health, and continued success in everything you do.

Tribeca, NY has become synonymous with the Tribeca Film Festival, not only is the “Triangle below Canal Street” (TriBeCa is an acronym) famous for its festival, it is also home to three of New York’s most successful restaurants: Nobu, Tribeca Grill and Locanda Verde.

Who runs Nobu, Tribeca Grill and Locanda Verde?

These restaurants aren’t successful by chance, their success can be attributed to its co-owner Robert De Niro, Jr. The highly acclaimed actor, director, producer and two-time Academy Award winner, DeNiro was instrumental in bringing the artistry of Nobu first to New York and now around the world.

His support of the brand draws actors, musicians, and socialites alike. De Niro has co-founded and provided creative direction for all of the owned Nobu Restaurants. Located in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood of New York City, Nobu, Tribeca Grill and Locanda Verde each restaurant has uniquely become a landmark in the ‘Big Apple’:

What is Nobu?

Nobu New York, the flagship restaurant of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has been a pioneer for Japanese cuisine since its opening in 1994. Nobu partnered with restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro to bring his modern Japanese to Tribeca.

Nobu draws upon his classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo and his life abroad in Peru, Argentina, and around the world to create a whole new trend in Japanese cuisine.

The resulting dishes, including Yellowtail with Jalapeno, Tiradito Nobu Style, Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce, and Black Cod with Miso, make Nobu the innovator of new style Japanese food.
