President Obama named as TIME magazine‘s ‘Person of the Year’ for the second time in four years!

President Barack Obama has been named TIME’s Person of the Year for 2012, allowing him the honor for the second time in four years.

The magazine cited the president’s historic re-election last month as symbolic of the nation’s changing demographics amid the backdrop of high unemployment and other challenges.

‘He’s basically the beneficiary and the author of a kind of new America – a new demographic, a new cultural America that he is now the symbol of,’ TIME editor Rick Stengel said as he announced the choice on the Today show on Wednesday.

‘He won re-election despite a higher unemployment rate than anybody’s had to face in basically 70 years. He’s the first Democrat to actually win two consecutive terms with over 50 per cent of the vote. That’s something we haven’t seen since Franklin Delano Roosevelt.’

The ‘Person of the Year’ accolade is given to the person or thing that has most influenced the culture and news throughout the year for good or for ill. Obama was named as Person of the Year in 2008, with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and ‘The Protester’ filling the years in between.

This year, Obama edged out Malala Yousufzai, a Pakistani girl shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating girls’ education, for the honor. She was named as runner up. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

President Barack Obama on Friday announced the nomination of U.S. Senator John Kerry to replace Hillary Clinton as secretary of state, calling him the ‘perfect choice’ to guide American diplomacy in the years ahead.

Obama settled on Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the 2004 Democratic presidential candidate, after U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice withdrew from consideration last week. He said he expected quick Senate confirmation of the Massachusetts lawmaker.

‘As we turn the page on a decade of war, he understands that we have to harness all elements of American power,’ Obama said at the White House.

The 69-year-old, who began his tenure in the Senate in 1985, is expected to be a shoo-in during the Congressional confirmation process and will fill the vacancy left by outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The announcement will come after the president’s top choice for the spot, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, took herself out of the running for the post given the controversy over her reaction to the attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11. The appointment of Sen. Somber President Obama: ‘We have wept with you, we have pulled our children tight!’

President Obama turned to scripture and emotional pleas in an effort to comfort the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

‘You are not alone in your grief. Our world too has been torn apart,’ President Obama said.  ‘All across this land our world too has been torn apart. All across this land we wept with you and pulled our children tight. Newtown, you are not alone.’

In one of the most religious speeches of his presidency, Mr Obama talked about how the ultimate goal for a society is to protect their children.

‘If we don’t get that right, we don’t get anything right. By that measure, can we truly say as a nation that we are doing our obligations?’ he said.

‘We gather here in memory of 20 beautiful children and six remarkable adults. They lost their lives in a school that could have been any school in a quiet town full of good and decent people that could have been any town in America.’

‘All across this land of ours, we have wept with you. We’ve pulled our children tight, and you must know whatever measure of comfort we can provide, we will provide it.’

As expected, he made several references to the prospective- and likely- legal battles that will come as politicians fight for tougher restrictions on guns in the wake of the shooting. That said, he was clear to avoid specific plans, but took aim at the arguments made by activists who point to the Second Amendment‘s right to bare arms as a reason to keep guns accessible.

‘Are we prepared to say that such violence visited upon our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?’ he said.

Obama leaves message for football coach, teacher at Newtown High School!

Two staff members at Newtown High School in Connecticut were surprised to find a message left for them on a whiteboard on Sunday by President Barack Obama.

Newtown football coach Steve George and teacher Bob Pattison had left a note to Obama in a classroom that the president was using as a staging area before his speech at a memorial service for the 26 people — 20 of them children — slain during a mass shooting at Newtown’s Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday. It read:

Dear President Obama,
The Newtown community is so thankful that you are coming to help us heal. In times of adversity it is reassuring to know that we have a strong leader to help us recover.

George later tweeted that they’d found a reply from the president when they returned to the room

White House: ‘President says he now supports bill to ban assault rifles!’

The White House has given its clearest indication yet that President Obama will do everything in his power to reinstate a ban on assault weapons following Friday’s horrific massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

After keeping relatively quiet about gun control during his first term, the President is now poised to push for new gun control measures.

Obama has long backed such a ban, but the White House has said the president can’t act alone and until now there has been little appetite in Congress to enact new gun laws.

Then on Sunday, Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein announced that she plans to introduce legislation to reinstate the ban early in the new year.

Senator Feinstein said the bill would ‘aim at limiting the sale, transfer and possession of assault weapons, along with the capacity of high-capacity magazines.’ She said that her bill – along with a similar bill in the House of Representatives – will be proposed on the first day of the next Congress when politicians return after the holidays.

White House spokesman Jay Carney says Obama would ‘actively support’ Feinstein’s bill and would also support legislation to close the gun show ‘loophole,’ which allows people to buy guns from private dealers without background checks. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

President Obama appointing Vice President Joe Biden to head a task force to push for gun policy change…

President Barack Obama will announce on Wednesday that Vice President Joe Biden will lead an effort to come up with policies to address gun violence amid calls for action following the massacre of 26 people including 20 children in a Connecticut elementary school last week.

The president is not expected to announce policy decisions but rather lay out the process by which his administration will move forward, White House aides said. Obama has turned to Biden in the past to take a role in high-profile policy initiatives, such as efforts to seek a deficit-reduction compromise with congressional Republicans in 2011.

Deeply affected by the massacre at Sandy Hook, gun owners in Camden, New Jersey, America’s deadliest town, turned in a record number of weapons in a buy back scheme over the weekend.

1,137 firearms including an elephant-gun were handed in on Friday and Saturday at two churches in the crime-plagued town as the ramifications of the mass child killings in Connecticut seemed to inspire residents to give up their arms.

‘We heard that there were a number of gun owners on Saturday who had publicly said, in light of the situation that had just occurred in Connecticut, they wanted to turn in their weapons,’ Paul Loriquet, a spokesman for the Camden police, said in an interview with Philly.Com

Among the weapons handed in were scores of rifles, shotguns and pistols, sawed-off shotguns, a century-old antique weapon, a rifle used for hunting elephants and five fully automatic weapons. Robert De Niro: ‘Time for tough guys to drop their guns!’

Robert De Niro is full of support for President Obama’s determination to combat gun violence in America.

The two-time Oscar-winner told me: ‘There should be more control. It has just gotten out of hand, how easily you can get guns. The elephant gun in the room was the tremendous amount of money wrapped up in weapons ‘whether in this country or anywhere in the world’.

De Niro, who is in the running for a third Academy Award for his performance (his best in years) as Bradley Cooper’s sports-obsessed father in Silver Linings Playbook, also shares concerns about ‘gratuitous’ violence in movies. De Niro has appeared in films that spoke to America’s love of weapons: Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets and Goodfellas; Francis Ford Coppola’s second Godfather picture.

But these were cinema landmarks, showing gun crime as a symbol of the U.S.’s criminal underpinning — not mindless schlock. The actor indicated that he didn’t disagree with slapdowns on unnecessary gun use in movies.

‘I think a lot of stuff is gratuitous, and I don’t like it personally. If there’s a reason for it, and it is what it is, then that’s what it is. It’s a complicated one.’

But he cautioned that ‘movies are like dreams’, which is why ‘you have to be careful’ with censorship. ‘Seeing things that are done in movies are like dreams,’ he told me. They allow people a kind of therapeutic release.

‘You see things you couldn’t do in normal life. It’s a collective dream for an audience. It’s not like it’s real — they know it’s not real.’ Or most of them do. ‘Unfortunately, there are some people who take it as real. Americans remember Sandy Hook school shooting victims with a moment of silence…

Americans have remembered the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre with a moment of silence this morning. Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy had called for the state’s residents to observe the moment at 9:30am to mark a week since 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed his mother and then stormed the Newtown school, where he shot to death 20 children and six adults before killing himself.

Malloy’s fellow governors in Maine, Illinois, Michigan and several other states called on residents to follow suit with a moment of silence and rang bells to remember the dead. The National Cathedral in Washington rang its bell 28 times as part of an interfaith memorial. ‘We have the moral obligation to stand for and with the victims of gun violence and to work to end it,’ said Reverend Gary Hall, dean of Washington National Cathedral.

He called on Americans to pray ‘that we may have courage to act, so that the murderous violence done on Friday may never be repeated.’ The company that operates the Nasdaq stock exchange halted operations to observe a moment of silence at 9:30am, although the market opened trading at that time as usual.

‘My heart aches for you’: Michelle Obama pens open letter to Newton after Sandy Hook massacre…

Michelle Obama has written an open letter to Newtown as the community struggles to come to terms with one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. The First Lady penned words of comfort to the small Connecticut town which is today enduring more funerals after the attack on Sandy Hook elementary school one week ago.

Last Friday, 20 children and six teaching staff were killed by a gunman who then took his own life. The shooter had earlier killed his mother Nancy Lanza at her home.

Mrs Obama wrote: ‘I cannot begin to imagine the depths of your grief. I know that for many of you, the pain you are enduring right now seems unbearable. However she said that the community would slowly heal based on ‘the countless acts of courage, kindness and love here in Newtown and across America’.

Six funerals and two wakes have been scheduled for today. A moment of silence for the victims took place at 9.30am this morning.  Governor Dan Malloy, Lt. One excited child listening to first lady Michelle Obama read from ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas‘ offered sage advice over what to get her husband for Christmas. The boy recommended that the first lady get President Obama and iPad or an iPad mini.

But Mrs Obama was keeping quiet on Christmas gifts for the president. She would only promise that Mr Obama would receive ‘something nice.’

She said if she says anything: ‘they’re going to print it into the papers tomorrow,’ pointing to news cameras.

The first lady was joined by first dog Bo at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, and read a group of children ‘A Visit From St Nicholas.’ Bo sat on her lap during the reading, and was dressed in a holiday collar.

One boy recommended an iPad or an iPad mini. The first lady promised ‘it will be something nice.’ Mrs Obama did not address Friday’s deadly shooting at a Connecticut elementary school and spoke shortly before her husband addressed the nation.

Her visit was part of a tradition by first ladies dating back to Bess Truman.

Former first daughter Jenna Bush spent scores of Christmases at the White House while her grandfather and father were President. So she was more than qualified to sit down with Michelle Obama to compare notes about the holidays at America’s most famous address.

During the interview, aired this morning on Today, Bush recounted treasured memories including helping her grandmother, Barbara Bush, put the star on the tree when she was a child. Meanwhile, Mrs Obama said the smells and sounds of the White House and opening it up to the public were the most magical things of the festive season for her.

‘It’s the most special time to be in the White House,’ Mrs Obama said. ‘It is the one time of the year when the White House really opens up. We have thousands and thousands of visitors streaming through each day.

‘Everything looks great. The smells are magnificent. I feel very blessed to be able to be here during these times.’

Adorable never-before-seen photo shows President Obama caught in the web of Spider-Man (as played by one of his staffer’s children)…

This is President Obama as we have never seen him before – caught unawares as he walks out of the Oval Office by none other than Spider-Man – or at least a very mini version of Spider-Man.

The intimate photograph taken by White House photographer Pete Souza shows the President joking around with one of this staffer’s children, who – dressed up as the super hero – pretends to shoot a spider web at Obama – who in turn reacts by pretending he is caught up in the imaginary trap.

It is just one of the many behind-the-scenes pictures Mr Souza takes every year which show a more down-to-earth and touching side of the man who has just been named as TIME’s Person of the Year for 2012. It is the second time he has had the honor in four years.

President Obama: ‘My daughters think Gangnam Style is cheesy!’

The President has admitted that he loves the PSY track Gangnam Style, much to his two daughters’ embarrassment.

In an interview with People, Barack Obama says he does the South Korean rapper’s infamous dance at home in the White House, with the sole purpose of winding up Malia, 14 and Sasha, 11.

He tells the new issue of the magazine: ‘They’re cooler than I am. There are things I like that they think are cheesy, like Gangnam Style. I love that.’

Even his wife admits it is ‘a little embarrassing’ when he attempts to do the routine – and indeed, he warns the reporter that he won’t be doing any impromptu performances. The President also discussed how he feels about his daughters dating.

Though he has joked in the past about employing Secret Service officers to keep boys away from Malia, she ‘actually doesn’t pay any attention to what I say.’ And in truth, he says he and the First Lady trust both their daughters’ judgement implicitly, because they have set such a good example of a relationship themselves. President Obama on fiscal cliff: ‘Everybody has got to give a little bit’…

President Obama has called on Congress to return from their Christmas holidays and approve his proposal to extend the tax rate for 98 percent of Americans and avert the so called ‘fiscal cliff’.

Speaking this evening at a White House press conference, the president said he had spoken with House Speaker John Boehner and Senate majority Leader Harry Reid and implored them to put together a legislative package that would extend the George W. Bush tax rates for those earning $250,000 or less.

‘All of us, every single one of us, agree that tax rates shouldn’t go up for the other 98% of Americans,’ Obama said, ‘Every member of Congress believes that.’

‘Now is not the time for more self-inflicted wounds, certainly not coming from Washington,’ said the president about the need for congressional leaders to come up with a smaller fiscal package in the next 10 days.

Issuing a stern summons to congressional leaders Friday to approve legislation before the year’s end President Obama is trying to prevent the nation from falling over the ‘fiscal cliff’. One day after House anti-tax rebels torpedoed Republican legislation because it would raise rates on million-dollar-earners, Obama said he still wants a bill that requires the well-to-do to pay more. She infamously told President Barack Obama last year she needed one more interview with him before retirement. So could Barbara Walters be hanging up her microphone in the near future after having yet another festive chinwag with the world’s most powerful man? The chummy pair sat next to a Christmas tree and shared tall tales as they became wrapped up in the festive spirit.

But they covered more serious matters too, with Barack explaining to the 81-year-old his thoughts of how federal law enforcement officials should tackle recreational marijuana use in Colorado and Washington, where it has recently been legalized at the state level.

The former cannabis smoker said they should not be a ‘top priority’ of federal law enforcement officials prosecuting the war on drugs, saying: ‘We’ve got bigger fish to fry.’

Barack said: ‘It would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational users in states that have determined that it’s legal.’

The statement was quite the scoop for Barbara, who last year was caught telling the President the surprise reason why she wanted another powwow with him.

She said: ‘I need one more interview with you because I’m retiring next year.’

Soledad O’Brien clashed with gun advocate John Lott in the aftermath of Friday’s horrific shooting, telling him that his position “boggles her mind.”

Twenty-seven victims — including twenty elementary schoolchildren — were shot and killed in a tragic shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Lott, a vocal pro-gun commentator, appeared on CNN Friday night and argued in favor of eliminating all gun laws.

“How does that possibly make sense to you?” O’Brien asked Lott on Monday’s “Starting Point.”

He alleged that mass shootings have taken place in areas where guns are banned, and pointed to the site of the Aurora, Colorado shooting as an example.

“Let me stop you there,” O’Brien interjected. She said that there was absolutely no evidence that the gunman chose that area because it banned guns. Later, she asked:

“Why is your take away from all of this to get rid of gun laws, and your take away is not to say there are people who should not have access to certain types of weapons? In this particular case, we know that he used a semiautomatic rifle to blow out the glass wall at the entrance to the school.”

College football player kicked off team for ‘racist’ anti-Obama tweet moaning after Sandy Hook tribute…

A North Alabama football player was dismissed from the team after posting a racist tweet Sunday aimed at President Obama while he spoke at the memorial for the Newtown massacre victims.

Bradley Patterson, the Lions’ third-string long-snapper, was apparently frustrated that Obama’s speech was interrupting NBC’s coverage of Sunday Night Football.

‘Take that n***** off the tv, we wanna watch football!’ Patterson wrote on his Twitter account, which has since been deleted.

The tweet was sent while Obama was addressing the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, where 20 children and six adults were murdered by gunman Adam Lanza.

Team management quickly responded to Patterson’s tweet by dropping him from the team.  North Alabama athletic director Mark Linder issued a statement on his Twitter account later Sunday evening condemning Patterson’s comments.

‘Thx 2 everyone who brought the inappropriate tweet to our attention,’ Linder wrote. ‘@UNAAthletics does not condone. He is no longer a member of the team.’

Patterson joined the North Alabama football program four weeks into the 2012 season as a walk-on. He was a non-scholarship player who never dressed for games and was never listed on the team’s roster. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

School lunch lady fired for feeding student who couldn’t afford meals…

A school cafeteria worker in Missouri lost her job after giving away free food to a student in need. Dianne Brame, 60, had been sneaking hot meals to fourth grader who always came without money to lunch at Hudson Elementary in Webster Groves, St Louis County.

The boy had previously been on the free lunch program but Brame believes his parents didn’t understand how to reapply for the new school year. When Brame’s employers found out that she had been giving out food against regulations she lost the job she had loved for the past two years.

Brame told Fox 2 now how much she enjoyed her work: ‘I knew kids by their names, I knew their likes and dislikes, so it was just fun.’

When she noticed the one boy always had the standard plain cheese sandwich, which is given to children with no lunch money, Brame began to worry.

‘Kids can be cruel to see this kid eating cheese sandwiches day after day after day. [They said] “You don’t have any money in your account, that’s why you have to eat cheese sandwiches.” And my heart just couldn’t tolerate that, so I broke the rule.’ she told Kmov.

So Brame began bending regulations to feed the boy hot meals. But this was dimly viewed by her employers, Chartwell’s School Dining Services.

Brame explained: ‘I let his account get over $45 which I’m only supposed to let it get over $10, and I started letting him come through my lunch line without putting his number in, and they look at that as stealing. I thought it was just taking care of a kid.’

Her supervisor gave Brame a stark choice – to take a demotion at another school or lose her job. As she explains, she could only take a job within walking distance so told her supervisor to sack her. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher had a ‘secret girlfriend’ and had planned to shoot his live-in partner…

Kansas City Chief’s linebacker Jovan Belcher who shot his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins 15 times before taking his own life earlier this month, apparently told his secret girlfriend that he would shoot Perkins ‘if she didn’t leave him alone.’

Belcher, 25, was having an intimate relationship with the other woman who is believed to be called Britnni Glass and told her in a text message around early November that if Perkins didn’t leave him alone he would take her life, the report said. The woman thought the text was a joke.

Furthermore, it is alleged that Jovan Belcher is reported to have had drinks and dinner with Glass before he arrived home, shot his girlfriend after a blazing row, and then ended his own life.

Belcher shot Perkins, 22, at least ten times after an argument in their house and then turned a gun on himself about 15 minutes later outside the Chief’s practice facility as head coach Romeo Crennel, General Manager Scott Pioli and other staff looked on.

Details of the Belcher case are contained in police reports submitted to the Jackson County prosecutor, who has ruled the event a murder-suicide. They include dozens of interviews with witnesses. Visit DailyMail to continue reading…

Donald Faison and Cacee Cobb are officially man and wife! Sixteen months after announcing their engagement, the Scrubs star, 38, and Jessica Simpson’s former personal assistant, 35, tied the knot at actor Zach Braff’s home in California on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Simpson — who is pregnant with her second child — served as one of Cobb’s bridesmaids, wearing a black dress and carrying a bouquet of red roses. The 31-year-old singer’s separated parents, Tina and Joe Simpson, her fiance, Eric Johnson, and her younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, also attended the ceremony.

She’s been dressed in head-to-toe for the past two weeks and her best friend’s wedding was no exception.  In fact, while the other bridesmaids wore purple and blue, Jessica Simpson – who is reported to be expecting again – wore the most slimming color of them of all to perform her duties.

Brooklyn Nets star and Kim Kardashian ex, Kris Humphries can do a lot of things, but comedy is not one of them. Humphries appears in a ‘secret’ new Funny or Die video clip that shows him tackling some of the world’s biggest issues.

The video, which is meant to reveal the ‘genius’ side of the basketball player, shows him appearing as a chess wizard, a master at Battleship, and a spelling guru, among other things. He also takes on some bigger issues including the Greek debt crisis and the world’s massive global warming problem, but none of it is exactly funny.

‘I hope no one sees this and realizes I’m more than just a basketball player,’ Humphries boasts during the unfortunate clip.

Unfortunately, the video was posted on-line for the world to see and it doesn’t do him any favors. The NBA power forward, who was married to Kardashian for 72 days, is no stranger to Funny or Die. In May he appeared in another clip that mocked Kim’s latest love, Kanye West. They are the bright-eyed co-stars of several hits reality shows. And this weekend Kim and Khloe Kardashian showed off their flare for colorful fashion by dressing in matching neon pant ensembles.

The two sisters arrived at the family’s Miami Dash store on Saturday in their brightly hued attire.

Kim strutted into the store in bright green pants paired with a sheer black blouse. While Khloe wore orange pants and a matching handbag, with black on top.

Both sisters completed their looks with sky high heels. They were joined by older sister Kourtney who opted for head-to-toe black. The sisters are in Florida shooting new episodes of their E! series Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.

Later, as a camera crew stood by, Kourtney, Khloe and Kim swapped out their casual attire for adorable dresses. Kim and Kourtney wore white, while Khloe went with a black and gold number.

Surely the producers knew this would happen. Looks like Naomi Campbell is already ruffling some feathers as rumors are flying that she’s causing fights between between co-hosts Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova on the set of the threesome’s new reality show, ‘The Face.’

The trio serve as mentors on the show as contestants prove they have what it takes to rule the catwalk. The British supermodel, 42, has reportedly fallen out with 24-year-old Coco over the Canadian beauty’s ‘straight-laced’ nature, according to the New York Post.

‘There were some issues with Coco being on time and Naomi not being on time,’ a source told the Post’s Page Six.

Coco is also a Jehovah’s Witness and doesn’t drink, which is stark in nature to Naomi’s bad girl persona. According to the Post, host Nigel Barker, of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ fame, is serving as mediator between the ladies.

No need for a bikini here when a sexy playsuit will do the trick. Dutch model Doutzen Kroes sizzled on set in a light blue one-piece as she modeled for the Victoria’s Secret swim line.

Kroes – who is married to Dutch DJ Sunnery James and has a one-year-old son named Phyllon Joy Gorre – kept a hat on hand as she let her naturally wavy blonde locks fly in the wind.

After frolicking around and sneaking in a few hair flips, the 27-year-old opted to keep her clothes on as she a swapped into a mini green cover-up dress. In her third wardrobe change, the mother-of-one let the cameras peek at her rock hard abs in a crop top orange striped tee and peek-a-boo grey shorts.

Cheryl Cole‘s former bodyguard claims that the singer owes him £70,000. American minder Craig Balkam has hit out at Cole saying that he has not paid for the work he did protecting her while she had a spot on the judging panel of X Factor US.

Following the 29-year-old’s choice to file a $2.3 million lawsuit against the US show bosses, Balkam has said that Cole is ‘refusing’ to pay him for his services.

Craig, who stands at 6ft 3in, guarded Cheryl for three months before she was booted off the talent show by Simon Cowell and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.

Speaking to The Sun, Balkam’s friend revealed: ‘Craig would have taken a bullet for that girl. He can’t believe what’s happened.’

According to the minder the Girls Aloud singer has ‘ignored’ his payment requests, and with plans to now sue Cheryl, Balkam is seeking legal advice.

For the holidays, actress Keesha Sharp decided to treat her fans to her beautiful singing in a fun tribute to Eartha Kitt  in ‘Santa Baby’. The video features Keesha singing as Eartha Kitt.

Glamour runs in the Lee-Simmons family as Ming,12, and Aoki,10, style it up for their OK! magazine photo shoot. The girls look like fashion moguls in training as their hair and outfits are completely on point. Ming rocks in a colorful form-fitting dress with pink leggings and bracelet, while Aoki gives casual a new name in her satin shirt with pink belt and jeans.

The girls were very candid in their magazine interview, elaborating on their sense of style and independence.

“We have a sewing machine and we know how to drape and design our own clothes. We make our own stuff,” said Ming.

The eldest of the Lee-Simmons clan gets her fashion inspiration from others saying: “I like to go to the grove and see what people are wearing and how they style themselves.”

As for Aoki and her inspiration? “I like looking at clothes online. I can’t drive yet so it’s easier,” explained the youngest of the two sisters.

Martin and a Disney guide made sure to watch the older children as the boat pulled away. The family then got a great front-row spot at the Disney Parade down Main Street. Sitting on the ground, Heidi cuddled into her youngest while Martin pointed out fun parts of the parade to the children.

She said it was her coach, Toni Minichiello, who taught her how to love her Olympic body by encouraging her to see that being muscular would help her be a champion – and a gold medal would be worth the sacrifice of ‘looking like everyone else’.

‘He said that if I had more muscles than the average woman, but won an Olympic gold medal, it would be worth it. He was right. I see that now,’ she said.

An ardent animal lover and advocate, Katherine Heigl has happily opened up her home and heart to seven canine companions – but she’s the first to admit it’s not always easy.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t recommend that,” the actress jokes to PEOPLE. “I really love these dogs, but it’s a lot with two little kids.”

After purchasing her first three dogs – schnauzers Romeo, Stella and Wheezer – Heigl became aware of Los Angeles’s growing overpopulation problem, and began rescuing pooches as a result.

“The first dog I rescued was my dog Piper, who is pretty much the most amazing dog on the planet,” she says. “It was a chance thing. I was walking down the street in my neighborhood and there was a woman with these two beautiful puppies that had been rescued from somebody’s backyard…

“I just thought, ‘This dog is beautiful, and I can take another dog,’ and so I did, and then the train started rolling.”

The overpopulation revelation is also what led Heigl, who alongside her mother Nancy runs the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, to her latest animal welfare venture, Just One pet products. Naomi Campbell sues Telegraph over ‘elephant polo’ story!

Naomi Campbell is suing the Daily Telegraph for libel over an article claiming she organised an elephant polo tournament in India. A spokeswoman for Campbell emphatically denied that the model, who campaigns against animal cruelty, had planned an elephant polo tournament in Jodhpur as stated by the article on 3 November.

The article, headed “Elephant polo at Campbell’s party criticized”, said celebrity guests at a party thrown by Campbell for her partner, the Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin, would play the controversial sport in three-a-side teams.

The online version of the article has been removed from the Telegraph website. A spokeswoman for Campbell described the claim as “completely untrue” and said lawyers in London had been instructed to take action.

Campbell formally filed her libel claim against Telegraph Media Group, the publisher of the Daily Telegraph, at the high court in London on 5 December. She has instructed the London law firm Michael Simkins over the article. Visit the Guardian to continue reading…

Nearly a year after his surprising split from supermodel wife Heidi Klum, Seal has made an expensive move towards getting on with his life. The Kiss from a Rose singer is reported to have just made an offer on a sprawling $6m house in the trendy Brentwood section of Los Angeles.

The 49-year old was seen visiting the home last week, for a third time. According to TMZ, the father-of-four put in a formal offer following his third visit. The modern, three level house has four bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a media room, gym, and two kitchens.

Seal and Heidi split last January.  Three months later, his estranged wife filed for divorce citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ in her legal petition. The couple have four children, Leni, seven, Henry, six, Johan, five, and two-year-old Lou, together.

According to the documents filed by Heidi’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, the couple signed a post-nuptial agreement. This means they made an agreement after they got married to keep their assets completely separate. And so there is no community property to be divided, according to sources.

The hip-hop favorite even taunted the elder statesman of the genre, boasting how he is not afraid of him. After being asked by TMZ whether the rumors he is sleeping with the reality television star are true, he gave a cryptic answer.

He said: ‘That’s a RUMOR? Is that a rumor? No comment man.’

And surely afraid of losing his credibility in the macho world of rap, he insisted he is not worried about any potential showdowns with Ice-T, real name Tracy Marrow.

The star, whose real name is Kenneth Huddleston, said: ‘I’m from the hood … I’m not worried about nothin’.’

It comes after the couple put on a united front at an art event last week. Rupert Murdoch showed his softer side today as he paid an emotional tribute to his late mother, telling 1,000 mourners at her funeral:

‘Her love gave me more than I could ever hope to repay’.

The billionaire media mogul spoke at Dame Elisabeth Murdoch’s memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne, Australia – also attended by his wife Wendi Deng, 44, and other relatives.

‘It was OK to stumble,’ he said of his mother, who died on December 5 aged 103. ‘She just wanted to make sure we understood the gravity of our actions and the impact our choices had on others.’

Britney looked pretty in a high necked clinging black midi dress which she teamed with gold heels and earrings, while her teen protege kept things casual in black jeans, a black and white shirt, and light brown boots.

Britney and Carly Rose held hands as they joined the judges and two other finalists to discuss the forthcoming two-part final episode which airs in the U.S. on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

And she seemed confident about the teen’s chances, earlier tweeting:

‘Spending the day with the one & only @CarlyRoseMusic. I’m telling y’all… this girl is COMING for the win this week.’

Her fellow judge Demi Lovato looked the most relaxed on the carpet – perhaps because she is the one judge not to have any contestants in the final – her last contestant in the young adult group CeCe Frey finished sixth on the show.

Demi looked casual in a brightly colored striped skirt, black tights and black jacket with some oddly applied black eye liner.

However, it was host Khloe Kardashian who was giving everyone a run for their money in the style stakes, arriving in a pair of lace up black knee high boots, leather look pants and a leopard skin jacket.

Alicia Keys sued by songwriter over ‘Girl On Fire’ for using an ‘uncredited sample’…

She enjoyed a number five hit in the UK with her track Girl On Fire. But Alicia Keys is now being sued over the single, with songwriter Earl Shuman claiming the singer’s latest track bears similarities to his and Leon Carr’s 1962 composition Lonely Boy.

Best known for being recorded in 1972 by Eddie Holman under the title ‘Hey There Lonely Girl’, the part of the song Shuman is concerned with is in the middle section. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Shuman alleges the particular way in which Alicia sings the words ‘lonely girl’ are reminiscent of his hit.

Alicia sings: ‘Nobody knows that she’s a lonely girl / And it’s a lonely world / But she’s gonna let it burn, baby, burn, baby, burn.’

These is the first picture of Pia Balotelli, the new baby daughter of firebrand Manchester City striker Mario. The little girl was born earlier this month to his ex-girlfriend Raffaella Fico, 27, and arrived three weeks early – she had been due on Christmas Day.

Balotelli has yet to see his daughter in the flesh and and is said so far to only seen pictures of her via email. In her first interview since giving birth Raffaella lashed out at the player for failing to act as a proper father.

In an interview with glossy Italian weekly Chi, Raffaella posed for several pictures with Pia, as well as her mother and brother Francesco, after securing a five figure deal with the magazine. Miami Heat’ center player Chris Bosh and wife Adrienne hosted a children’s holiday party at Sunset Place’s GameTime Monday evening. Bosh and his charity ‘TEAM TOMORROW’ held their third annual Christmas with kids from all over South Florida participating in the holiday fun.

“We always love giving back, and Christmas is a very important time, where kids just need to have fun. Not only do they want to have fun, they need to have fun. Just not be in school for a little bit and enjoy the holiday season,” said Bosh

In all, 150 children from the Chapman Partnership homeless shelter, Big Brothers of America, the Boys & Girls club of Miami, Best Buddies and other groups took part in the event.

Founded by NBA Star Chris Bosh in 2010, Team Tomorrow Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community-based organizations that promote the upliftment of children, families and the community.

With a goal to raise awareness and support for children and families in need, Team Tomorrow sponsors projects and community based events while partnering with sponsors, donors, business leaders, outreach programs, celebrities, athletes and nonprofit organizations.

Mark Zuckerberg donates nearly $500 million worth of stock to charity…

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is definitely in the holiday-giving mood. Late Tuesday, he donated 18 million of his shares in the social-networking company — worth nearly $500 million — to the nonprofit Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which works in education and health initiatives.

“I’m hopeful we’ll be able to have as positive an impact in our next set of projects,” Zuckerberg said in a status update on his Facebook page.

It is Zuckerberg’s second big donation since he joined the Giving Pledge, the Bill Gates-Warren Buffett organization that has asked the wealthiest people in the U.S. to give to worthwhile causes. His first centered on education reform with Startup: Education in Newark, N.J.

“I’m really proud of the work we’ve done there, helping leaders like Gov. Chris Christie and Mayor Cory Booker sign the most progressive teachers contract in our country, opening four new district high schools, 11 new charter schools and more,” Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook profile. The 32-year-old caused quite a frenzy with waiting photographers as she made her way through the terminal showing off her new bangs.

The reality TV star, 32, took to her blog to set the record straight on Wednesday after sending fans and photographers into a frenzy with her hair transformation.

In a message titled ‘The Truth About The Bangs’, she wrote: ‘The bangs are fake! Just clip ons! 

She continued: ‘I had a fun Cosmo cover shoot yesterday and Chris McMillan clipped these on!’

Cutting a youthful figure, Kim kept her make-up light as she strutted along in a pair of open toed heeled black ankle boots. Holding her black winter jacket in one hand and her high shine crocodile skin handbag in the other, Kim looked ready to call it a day.

Kendra Wilkinson has revealed her top tips to stay in shape over Christmas. The former Playboy model wants to enjoy the festive season by eating, drinking and being merry but she doesn’t want to put on too much weight.

Kendra intends to limit the amount of calorie laden canapes she eats and has a plan for meal times to avoid overeating.

In a blog post titled Say No To Muffin Tops, she wrote: ‘Between Christmas cookies and cocktail parties, plus all the heavy holiday meals in between, it can be easy to put on a few pounds during the holiday season. Don’t let it happen!’

‘Here’s how to make it to 2013 with a flat belly … Start every day with breakfast and a short workout. Eating breakfast will rev up your metabolism for the day and a short run or a 20-minute yoga session in the morning boosts your energy and keeps your appetite in check for the rest of the day.’

‘Never go to a party hungry. Eat a small meal before attending cocktail parties, dinner parties, or any events where food will be served. Holiday appetizers are usually fried, stuffed with cheese, or full of sugar. Taste what you want but never make a meal of party appetizers.’

If anyone knows how to deck the halls with glitz and glamour, it’s Style network’s ‘Kimora: House Of Fab’ star Kimora Lee Simmons. The 37-year-old, who’s also the current president and Creative Director of JusFab, recently shared her must-have gifts for this holiday season as part of Celebuzz’s 30 Days of Giving & Receiving.

“What has always made this time of the year so special for me is what we put into the holidays,” the fashionista said.

“I can remember growing up in St. Louis with my mom and we made our own Christmas tree ornaments — with pinecones, construction paper and more glitter than any child should have access to,” she added.

“I still have some of these today and we combine them with ornaments that the kids have made or been given each year. Our Christmas tree tells the story of our whole family.”

Simmons, who recently split from her partner Djimon Hounsou after more than five years together. In a message to fans on her Twitter page, the former model said the pair had been apart for ‘some time.’

She wrote: ‘There have been quite a few hurtful rumors circulating. The truth is Djimon + I have been separated for some time. We have remained happy, loving, co-parenting friends + family. We all have much to be thankful for.’

Her public profile has taken a bit of a battering in recent months. So no doubt Halle Berry will be hoping her comedy appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show as her Christmas mascot will help restore some of her lost popularity. The crowd were left in stitches when she recorded her appearance as Holly Berry for her shock appearance on the popular daytime chat show.

Just who was playing the character was kept a mystery as it regularly rampaged onto the stage for a festive 12 Days of Christmas skit, but its identity will be finally revealed on January 3. The ‘Catwoman’ actress certainly seemed to have found her level as she larked around on the set, much to the amusement of the studio audience.

Detroit will get another appearance on the big screen, after serving as the backdrop to several days of shooting for indie movie “Parts Per Billion.” Multiracial actress Rosario Dawson serves as one of the film’s producers, as well as one of its stars.

The cast has a a promising lineup of other big names, including “Gossip Girl’s” Penn Badgley, “CSI: NY’s” Hill Harper, Frank Langella, Gena Rowlands, Josh Hartnett, Teresa Palmer and Alexis Bledel, according to Deadline. Alas, no Robert Pattinson — the “Twilight” leading man was originally involved in the project back in 2009 before dropping out due to scheduling.

The film follows three couples as they attempt to deal with an earth-shaking disaster that “threatens to tear them apart,” according to IMDB. It was written and directed by Brian Horiuchim, who seemed to enjoy his experience in Detroit. And why wouldn’t they have a good time in the friendly Motor City? They’re certainly getting around town.

Kim unwisely tried to hide her curves in a pair of black pants. While they were obviously meant to be baggy the pants clung in all the wrong places.

The yo-yo dieter teamed them with a black top covered in graphic writing, with a scarf flung around her neck. Make-up free Kim obviously wasn’t expecting to be photographed, with her hair tied in a messy top knot.

But she gave the photographer a smile as she passed by on her way to visit a friend. It is the first time the 32-year-old has been seen back in Los Angeles since she wrapped her newest reality show, Kourtney And Kim Take Miami.

And Tom Cruise certainly spoiled his 17-year-old son Connor by taking him on a private helicopter as he continued his promotional tour in the States.

Connor accompanied his famous father as he promoted his latest film Jack Reacher in New York, and joined him on a helipad as they left their hotel on Wednesday.

Tom has been busy promoting his latest action film, which has seen him travel to London, Sweden and most recently, New York.

With his son by his side, he jetted out of the Big Apple, but made a pit stop in Pittsburgh before continuing his journey to Los Angeles.

Connor took to Twitter to write about his tour with dad, saying: ‘NYC it’s been real… LA bound with a quick stop in Pittsburg.’ 

His new film takes place in Pittsburgh, so it was only appropriate the actor would stop by a special screening in the city.

Rivera previously teamed up with 2CELLOS for Glee’s Michael Jackson tribute episode, which featured an intense (diva) duel between Santana and Sebastian (Grant Gustin) as they sang “Smooth Criminal.” As for the Glee starlet’s next musical project, she recently signed with Elton John’s music management company.

She was once dubbed The X Factor’s biggest success story. But it seems that superstar Leona Lewis‘ halo might be starting to slip as her new single Lovebird failed to make it into the Top 200 when it was released this week.

The poor sales for the second single taken from Glassheart come after it became her first album not to debut at No 1 when it was released two months ago.

The 27-year-old singer, who became the first British X Factor winner to break America, is still managed by Sony and Simon Cowell, but has become overshadowed by other show successes including One Direction and Little Mix.

‘The single was strong and should have done better but, unfortunately, there was no real marketing force behind it,’ a source told The Daily Mirror.

Crucially, it didn’t capture the imagination of radio bosses and got little airplay. Most people, unless they have the album, have never heard the song,’ they added.

While it is unknown exactly how many copies of the single have been sold, the 200th single on the chart has sold just 600 copies, meaning that Leona’s has sold less.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa and model Amber Rose have a baby boy on the way—and it sounds like they plan to be dope parents. When E! News asked the Rolling Papers rapper if he intends to make any changes to his lifestyle, particularly in the marijuana-use department, Khalifa replied, “Not as far as that goes.”

“I think it’s all about how you’re raised with it,” he added. “Before there was a much more negative outtake on it. You know, pot and what it can do, and the effects of it.”

The 25-year-old father-to-be went on to clarify his thoughts.

“Of course, I’m not going to be smoking right there over the baby, because smoke in general and being high is not good for a kid,” he added. “None of that. But definitely he’s going to know what it is—and he’ll know the difference between being a child and not being able to use it and being an adult and knowing how to use it.”

Now in her third trimester, the model mom-to-be, 29, went on to support her man.

“It’s just like alcohol, basically,” she said. “That’s how I feel about it, you know. When you’re a kid, you know that you’re not supposed to drink alcohol, that it’s for adults and that’s it. She added: “Our son is just going to know that daddy likes to smoke.”

Christmas has come a few days early for Zoë Saldana. The actress has received a gift in the form of a little white rescue pup that she adopted just days before the holiday.

“Meet Mugsy!!! Rescued her last week and  my best friend named her ha! She’s adorable and super smart,” Saldana Tweeted Thursday, with a photo of the wiry-haired pooch sitting in the passenger’s seat of a car.

Perhaps spending timing with her boyfriend Bradley Cooper’s dog Charlotte is what persuaded the ‘The Words’ star to adopt a furry friend of her own. Saldana, who is the leading lady in Cooper’s life, spent Thanksgiving walking outdoors with the white chow/retriever mix.

“She has to like my dogs,” The Hangover star told PEOPLE in 2009 of what he looks for in a potential girlfriend. “My dogs and I come in a package.”

For Kim Kardashian, one visit to the salon in a week isn’t enough. Just one day after getting her tresses done, the curvaceous reality star had a busy Friday morning, visiting two more hair salons in Beverly Hills on Friday.

The 32-year-old covered up her famous curves with a tan trench coat wrapped loosely over a black mini dress and a black quilted Chanel bag to match.

Kim arrived at the salon with her hair wet and wild and emerged from the salon with her long black hair blown straight.

Wearing high heeled black leather booties, Kim managed to juggle her phone and a large cup as she successfully strode out of the Beverly Hills salon, unlike her trip on Thursday.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star’s penchant for stilettos caused her to lose her footing as she visited another stylist in West Hollywood just the day before, falling not just once but twice on her outing.

All is well with Coco and Ice-T as they spend time together working out and shopping!

Their seemingly unbreakable bond has been rocked by a scandal after photos hit the internet showing Coco cuddling up with another man.

But Ice-T appeared to have forgiven his wife and the pair put on a united front on a Las Vegas outing on Friday.

It seems the rapper may have traveled to the Nevada city to be by his wife’s side – and perhaps keep an eye on her – after she was snapped getting cozy with AP.9 earlier this month.

The trouble in paradise appeared to be behind the pair, however, as they enjoyed a workout followed by a shopping trip. 

The couple looked like they were getting on great as they shared a giggle while pumping iron in the fitness center at the Planet Hollywood hotel.

Curvaceous Coco, whose real name is Nicole Austin, was dressed in a tank top with the word ‘dramatic’ splashed across it and monochrome striped lycra shorts.

Meanwhile Ice-T was wearing a red top and black shorts, and kept to the same color palette when he changed later on, then sporting a red T-shirt, black jeans and a matching leather jacket.

The blonde pair were spotted at LAX, where it is likely that they were catching a flight to Utah where Katherine now lives with her husband and two children. In the episode, screened the next night, she gave the silver haired host a new collar for his cat, while he gave her a pooper-scooper with a picture of his face on. While it may seem like an unusual present to give for Christmas, it is one Katherine will find plenty of use for.

She owns seven dogs, and is a a vocal animal rights supporter and campaigner. While the couple were travelling alone, Halle was ostentatiously carrying a child’s pink pig backpack, seemingly indicating that she would be joined by her daughter later in the holiday. Holding hands tightly, the couple are probably hoping for a more peaceful Christmas holiday than their Thanksgiving.

They are a couple that appear to be as in love with leather clothing as they are with each other. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West showed off matching looks as they stepped out in rawhide on Saturday in LA.

The 32-year-old reality star and her rapper beau were both wearing black leather pants, but while Kayne’s were worn baggy, Kim opted for a tight fit.

The model teamed her pants with a crisp white shirt and a long beige jacket, that was also made out of her favorite material. Kim was seen sporting a pair of oversized sunnies and pointed lace-up boots to finish off her look.

Earlier in the day the pair were seen arriving at a gym together and neither looked particularly ready for a workout. While Kanye wore his leather pants, Kim decided on an up front style wearing a see-through top over two sports bras.

Kanye will be joining Kim and the rest of the Kardashian clan to celebrate Christmas.

She was only 17 when she married Russell Simmons on St. Barts. And 14 years later, Kimora Lee Simmons returned to the picturesque Caribbean island with her three children in tow for a very sandy Christmas vacation.

The 37-year-old could not hide her delight, or her ample bosom, as she frolicked on the beach Saturday with her daughters Ming and Aoki from her marriage to the hip-hop magnate.

The former model looked red hot in her string bikini, which she accessorized with a small body chain across her toned torso.

Ming, who turns 13 next month, was all smiles in her black-striped one-piece, while her 10-year-old sister wore a blue patterned bathing suit with cut-outs on each side.

The stars feature in a new public service announcement against gun violence for Demand a Plan after 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot and killed 20 children and six adults before turning the gun on himself at the Connecticut school last Friday.

The one-and-a-half minute clip features the celebrity activists asking: ‘How many more colleges? How many more classrooms? How many more movie theaters?  How many more houses of faith?’ before lawmakers tighten regulations.

The Obama‘s head to Hawaii for a tropical Christmas…

At the end of a busy day during which he attended a funeral, nominated his new Secretary of State and stared over the ‘fiscal cliff’ President Obama packed his family off to Hawaii for Christmas. The president, Michelle, Malia and Sasha departed for his native state on Friday evening, shortly after he had delivered a statement on extended the last Bush administration’s tax cuts.

Obama had told reporters ‘see you next week’ at the end of his appearance in the briefing room, but the White House did not specify when the president would return to Washington. The Obama family have traditionally spent their Christmas holidays in Honolulu.

Earlier in the day President Obama had urged lawmakers to reach agreement on averting tax hikes on the middle class, saying he was ready and willing to do what it takes to get a deal by January 1st.

Obama cuts number of inaugural balls down from 10 to TWO as a way to help with tough economy…

With his nation under financial strain, President Barack Obama decided his inaugural festivities to only two balls, making it the lowest number of parties in 60 years.

He decided to cut down on the pomp and circumstance from his initial inauguration, where there were 10 balls, to January’s two balls and a concert honoring military families.

Planners say the austerity in festivities is a reflection of tough economic times and an effort to minimize the burden on law enforcement, other security personnel and Washington residents. Both balls are being planned at the Washington Convention Center on Monday, January 21, the evening of Obama’s public inauguration at the Capitol on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Under the Constitution, the president’s second term begins January 20 at noon, but he’ll be sworn in privately at the White House – with limited media coverage – since inaugural celebrations traditionally aren’t held on Sundays.

The irony wasn’t lost on fans when Kim Kardashian last year signed on to appear in Tyler Perry’s new film Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor which stars the likes of  Robbie Jones, Vanessa Williams, Brandy Norwood, Eric White and other Hollywood actors.

Hot on the heels of ending one of Hollywood’s shortest marriages, the reality TV queen plays social-climber Ava, a preened business woman who loves figure-hugging dresses and lambastes her co-workers for not meeting her standards of style and beauty. A newly-released trailer for the comedy proves the role isn’t much of a stretch for the star.

Her voice narrates the top of the two-and-a-half minute clip. The scene opens from a sweeping cityscape to the sprawling offices where Kim’s character rips into marriage counselor Judith, played by Jurnee Smollett.

‘We have a billion dollars walking in and out of these offices looking for love. You have a standard to uphold. That blouse,’ she miffs. ‘It’s telling it all.’

Not to be undone by her image-obsessed colleague, Judith questions Ava’s cotton candy pink dress – not unlike the ones Kim is so often seen pouring herself into on her day-to-day outings.

‘What’s wrong with my dress?’ she squeaks, eyes glazed, head tilted in confusion.

‘Can you breathe?’ he adversary asks.
