Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Gala Noche de Ninos honoring The Walt Disney Company

The Event

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles‘ hosted Gala Noche de Ninos honoring The Walt Disney Company, Heidi Klum and Pau Gasol at L.A. Live Event Deck on October 20, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.

The world-class Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala: Noche de Niños deepens our relationships with Los Angeles’ wide array of Los Angeles’ civic leaders, corporate supporters, philanthropists and celebrities. This sensational event, one of the most important fundraisers for our hospital, has raised more than $7.5 million to support the exceptional care we provide to our patients since it launched in 2004.

The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala: Noche de Niños 2012 was a special night, where more than 1,000 special guests were treated to a spectacular affair at L.A. Live, featuring cuisine from Wolfgang Puck, entertainment and an opportunity to experience the care and compassion showered on more than 96,000 sick and injured children from Los Angeles and beyond.

With your help, we will celebrate our heroes—the courageous children and their families who come to us for hope, healing and healthier futures—and honor a few very special friends of our hospital.

The Corporate Courage to Care Awards

Noche de Niños was inspired by a former patient, eleven-year-old Dustin Meraz, who suffered from terminal cancer. Dustin’s wish was to have his life make a difference for other seriously ill children and inspire adults to have the courage to care about and provide support for kids in need.

At each Noche de Niños, the Courage to Care Award is presented to those individuals who are champions of children and child-related causes and are recognized for their outstanding humanitarian efforts. Coming from varied backgrounds and industries, these individuals share a common bond through philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy to improve the welfare of children worldwide.

The Walt Disney Company

For nearly thirty years, The Walt Disney Company has dedicated significant time, talent and treasures to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, bringing happiness, hope and laughter to children and families when they need it most. Disney’s significant support of the hospital has come to life through financial gifts, employee fundraising, character visits, VoluntEARS support, executive leadership on the hospital board and in-kind donations.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is deeply appreciative of our steadfast relationship with The Walt Disney Company and is proud to honor the company with the Corporate Courage to Care Award.

Sharlely ‘Lily’ Kerssenberg-Becker joins Cash & Rocket (RED) Tour 2012

CASH & ROCKET – WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU JUMPED IN YOUR CAR, PUT THE ROOF DOWN, AND HEADED ON TO THE OPEN ROAD FOR THE ROADTRIP OF A LIFETIME?

For 4 days, 70 women traveled across Europe, raising money to help (RED) deliver an AIDS FREE generation by 2015. The Tour has ended but the mission is far from over. Everyone can help by joining in – sponsor the whole team or pick a favorite driver. Sharlely ‘Lily’ Kerssenberg, Boris Becker‘s wife was among the 70 women who traveled across Europe.

Driving 35 red cars, these 70 women participated in the inaugural Cash and Rocket (RED) Tour – from the excitement of central London, to the beauty of Place Vendome in Paris, through the cobbled piazzas of Milan ending on the coast of Monte Carlo. Each stop held an exciting event including a reveal of the latest (BUGABOO)RED design collaboration at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme to a stop in Geneva for lunch and a polo match followed by a dinner event upon arrival at the Park Hyatt Milan and culminating with an auction in Monte Carlo.

The European road trip raised both awareness and funds to help fight AIDS. And it could not come at a more important time.  We are currently at a critical milestone in the fight against AIDS: by 2015 we can virtually eliminate the transmission of HIV from mums to their babies.

Every day 1,000 babies are born with HIV. By 2015, that number can be near zero. It’s an incredible possibility – one that could help see the beginning of the end of AIDS. And when you set that against the backdrop of the AIDS pandemic – 30 million deaths in 30 years – the opportunity to turn the tide on this disease is a possibility we can seize. As of September 9, Cash & Rocket has raised $127, 404.00.  Check out Cash & Rocket’s website for more information on how to help/donate.
