Heidi Klum may not be a musician but the supermodel managed to steal the show from the artists in her very racy frock. She sported a shimmering gold brocade dress that had a high-neck, which was cancelled out and then some by a seductive split all the way up to her thigh.
In case the leggy blonde wasn’t flashing enough flesh, her skimpy dress also had plunging flesh panels that fell below her chest. Gold was chosen also by Taylor Swift, who looked as though she could have coordinated with Heidi in her equally embelished frock and matching bun.
Metallics were in fact favored by a whole host of attendees, including Hayden Panettiere and Stacy Keibler in silver, and Elisha Cuthbert, Jenny McCarthy and Brandy opting for gold also. Meanwhile, Pink chose a metallic gown with a leather cut-out top and full skirt which has been sported by the likes of Kim Kardashian.
Jordin Sparks took a sexier approach than usual when it came to dressing for the bash. The singer made sure she turned heads in an unusual printed gown, which boasted a mesh panel top under its low neckline.
And Carly Rae Jepsen looked closer to her 26 years for once in her elegant sparkling pink dress which flashed some cleavage. The singer will be performing her new, ridiculously catchy single This Kiss for the crowd at the event.
Carly, who is Justin Bieber’s protegee is also up for a gong in the form of the Spring New Artist of the Year Award, for which she will compete against the likes of One Direction, fun., Gotye and J. Cole.
Ke$ha went for something of a new look with her platinum blonde hair in soft waves while she sported a lacy pink mini-dress and black platforms. But the singer couldn’t resist showing her wild side which she did by showing off a huge amount of piercings on her ear, along with a ring in her nose.
Ginnifer Goodwin also chose a pastel pink color with intricate silver detailing on her dress.

Interesting Outfit Choices at the 2012 AMAs
While teams of celebs glittered in gold on the red carpet at the American Music Awards on Sunday night – two celebs who certainly didn’t blend in with the crowd were Nicki Minaj and Christina Aguilera.
The divas both opted for eye-catching looks – but ultimately pushed at the fashion boundaries a little too much. Christina, 31, sporting a very orange fake tan, squeezed her generous curves into a tight-fitting purple wrap-around dress, split to the thigh. The Voice judge completed her look with what appeared to be a blonde bobbed wig and purple eye-shadow.
Nicki, meanwhile, slipped into a garish neon sleeveless dress, with her blonde hair set in a voluminous, curly style. Minaj, 29, along with Rihanna, is the top nominee at Sunday’s American Music Awards, which are being held in Los Angeles. But the rapper-singer – also a judge for the upcoming season of American Idol – isn’t concerned with her four nominations.
They were not the only ones to get it wrong. Cyndi Lauper wore striped tights and a bizarre jacket complete with tartan detailing while socialite Phoebe Price donned a garish gold sequinned dress, which didn’t match up to the likes of Heidi Klum and Taylor Swift’s gold offerings.
There were some questionable outfits from some of the men too; Black Eye Peas singer will.i.am donned a quirky black and gold ensemble while Sean Kingston slipped on a wild print jacket.
‘I don’t do music for awards,’ the 29-year-old said in an interview. ‘It’s so crazy because people always have to remind me that I’m nominated for an award when I go to award shows. I know they’re going to come. I’m sitting here looking at my awards right now,’ she continued with a laugh.
‘I never stress it. I think of myself as `I’ll have a career long enough to get all those different awards.”
In the pop/rock category, Minaj is up for favorite female artist and album for ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.’ She’s also nominated for favorite artist and album in the hip-hop/rap category, two awards she won last year.
Minaj isn’t up for the night’s top award, though. Rihanna, Maroon 5, Drake, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber will battle it out for artist of the year.

Highlight of the awards: Psy featuring MC Hammer
Psy surprised the crowd at the 2012 American Music Awards on Sunday, bringing 80s rapper MC Hammer on stage with him to perform a mashup of his “Gangnam Style” and Hammer’s “Too Legit to Quit.”
They both created dance moves so strange they took the world by storm, so it’s not a surprise that Psy and MC Hammer finally teamed up to cut a rug together. Taking to the stage at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, the infamous creator of Hammertime joined the Korean pop sensation to perform a special version of Gangnam Style.
Stanley Kirk Burrell, better known as MC Hammer, is the latest celebrity to get into the craze, after Madonna, Andrew Garfield, Carrie Underwood, Susan Boyle and even Bruce Forsyth all performed the dance.
Psy had the honors of closing the music industry awards gala with his number one hit song, and was joined by the rapper halfway through the performance.
After yelling the infamous words, ‘Stop, Hammertime’ the pop sensation was joined by the 50-year-old 90s hit maker who took to the stage with great enthusiasm and performed the crazy dance routine energetically.
In an ode to MC Hammer, the South Korean singer even wore the infamous ‘hammer pants’, better known as harem pants, sported by the rapper in his U Can’t Touch This video.
And the unexpected performance was clearly enjoyed by the star-studded audience, as beauties Kerry Washington and Heidi Klum were spotted dancing and singing along.
Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet seemed slightly bewildered at what was happening on stage, but looked entertained regardless.
Will.i.am had the honors of introducing the performance, telling the A-listers in the Nokia Theater in LA: ‘Many of us have uploaded videos on Youtube, but there’s only one person that has 700 million views in just a couple of months.’
‘The Korean phenomenon, my homeboy Psy, scream and shout.’
Psy himself seemed psyched about the performance, writing on Twitter just hours before getting on stage: ‘How lucky I am!! Gonna be the Closing of #AMAs!! #HammerTime.’
The singer from South Korea has been taking over the pop industry with his crazy song, taking the number one spot on the charts in over 30 countries.
The accompanying video has been viewed a record breaking 760 million times as of Monday, making it into the Guinness Book of World Record as the most liked Youtube video in history.
