Interracial relationships are still a HUGE concern in AMERICA!!!

This sort of thing ought not to happen in a racially and ethnically diverse nation!

A Georgia man was left bloodied and bruised after he was brutally attacked for dating an African-American girl. The interracial couple were strolling through Ellis Square, a public space in Savannah, shortly before midnight last Friday, when they say three black men began taunting them.

The provocation began as racial slurs, then the scoffers started blowing kisses and suddenly the trio jumped the boyfriend, Andrew Quade – who is white, beating him and leaving him barely conscious.

The violent response to the mixed-race romance has left the couple in shock that such vicious intolerance still exists.

‘This shouldn’t happen in this day in age. I know we’re in the South and all that, but it’s time for a change,’ the girlfriend, Olufisayo Bakre, told WTOC-TV news.Read full story here…

Words of wisdom from the world’s richest woman…

Gina RinehartThe richest woman in the world has a message for all you normals out there: Becoming rich is as easy as putting down that beer and getting off your ass. Australian billionaire Gina Rinehartwrote that there is “no monopoly on becoming a millionaire,” in a column in Australian Resources Magazine, according to the AFP.

“If you’re jealous of those with more money, don’t just sit there and complain,” Rinehart wrote. “Do something to make more money yourself — spend less time drinking or smoking and socialising, and more time working.”

Rinehart has a point, working hard is one way to make a lot of money. Another way is to inherit a boatload of it and turn that wealth into more wealth. Rinehart may be more familiar with the second route. When her father died in 1992, he left the mining mogul $75 million and, yes, she multiplied that sum by 386 over the past 20 years, according to AOL Daily Finance.

Toni Braxton stars in ‘A Narrow Bridge’ – an interracial movie…

It seems like the Lifetime movie network is diversifying its movie lineup to include actors of different races in starring roles. In one of their recent movie production, singer/songwriter Toni Braxton take the leading role in an original movie titled ‘A Narrow Bridge’.

Braxton revealed that she would be filming a Lifetime movie with her son, via her twitter account, in June, but wouldn’t give any further details on the project. Details of the movie were recently released and will star  Braxton alongside David Julian Hirsh (Weeds, Hawthorne), in a movie about a Christian, African American woman who falls in love with a Jewish, Caucasian man.

As soon as additional details are available such as airing time, I’ll be sure to inform my KolorBlind family. I’m sure it will be a show-stopper via Indiewire

Jon Stewart mocks Paul Ryan’s inaccuracies at RNC…

Ever since he was named Mitt Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan’s fans have been touting him as a hard-hitting guy who isn’t afraid to tell the truth, so you’d think that his acceptance speech as an official Vice Presidential nominee at this week’s Republican National Convention would be full of zingers.

Unfortunately, though, Ryan went more “motivational poster” than “kick butts, take names,” and on Thursday night’s “Daily Show,’ Jon Stewart couldn’t help but be disappointed.

“Is that your speech?” Stewart joked. “You’re the policy expert! What a disappointment. ‘Ladies and gentlemen, Aretha Franklin’s gonna come out and knit for you.’ I mean, come on.”

But it wasn’t just the vagueness that got Stewart down. Ryan’s creative fact presentation is what really sealed the deal on his disappointment. Read more here…

Have you heard of “Rent-a-womb” before?

Strictly business: Octavia and Dominic Orchard have paid for an Indian woman to be their surrogateA couple tell today how they are expecting a child by a surrogate mother from an Indian ‘baby factory’. Octavia and Dominic Orchard travelled to the Hyderabad clinic to get around a UK ban on commercial surrogacy. Their baby – due at the end of the year – will be theirs biologically while being born to an impoverished Indian ‘renting out’ her womb.

Mrs Orchard, a middle-class Oxfordshire housewife, admitted the £20,000 deal sounded ‘cold and clinical’ but insisted: ‘This is a business transaction.’

Describing the surrogate mother as ‘just a vessel’, the 34-year-old former estate agent added: ‘There is no altruism involved on the surrogate’s part: she is being paid to have our baby’.

At A clinic in Hyderabad, southern India, a surrogate mother is carrying Octavia and Dominic Orchard’s second child. The couple, who are as English as their bucolic-sounding name, know only the sparest of details about the woman who is pregnant with their baby.

They know she is 31 and has children of her own. They know her name, and that for reasons not explained — perhaps she has been widowed or deserted — she has no husband. Read more here…

No walk of fame for Kim Kardashian?

Style misstep: Kim Kardashian put herself on the worst dressed list for this outfit, which she wore in Miami on October 12Kim Kardashian has some lofty goals. The 31-year-old recently revealed to V magazine that she wants to see her name alongside some of Hollywood’s legends:

“I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold,” she told the magazine.

Well Kim can keep dreaming, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which is responsible for handing out stars to celebrities:

“She has not been nominated. She is a reality star. We don’t do reality stars. She needs to get a real acting job then come to us,” a rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce told Hollyscoop. Read more here…

Nasty divorce: Seal accuses Heidi of cheating…

For a while, it looked as if the divorce between Seal/Klum would be civil. However, things took an unpleasant turn when Seal accused his soon-to-be ex-wife of having an affair with her bodyguard. In his words:

“fornicating with the help.”

Seal later retracted his statement via his rep by saying:

“”Seal would like to clarify that he was not implying his wife was cheating while they were together, but he was merely pointing out that their separation and divorce are not yet final and they are indeed still legally married.”

To make things interesting, Klum has been frequently spotted with her bodyguard of recent, a relationship which is still “undefined”. The model cited Seal’s temper and not marital infidelity as the reason for their divorce via Gawker.Seal: Ex-Wife Heidi Klum Was 'Fornicating With the Help'

Happy 45th Birthday Salma Hayek

The Latina actress who recently celebrated her 45th birthday attended the Gucci Award For Women In Cinema at The Venice Film Festival on Saturday in a stunning plunging gown, successfully making that case that 45 is the new 25. The floor-length black dress gave a nod to the glamour of old Hollywood while showcasing the mother’s voluptuous figure. The whole look was very Jessica Rabbit.

Even though Salma looks pretty perfect these days, she told Glamour about her childhood struggles with acne back in March. And while it’s a little hard to picture the bombshell as anything less than flawless (the woman can even wear pajamas in public and look great), it’s nice to hear that gorgeous celebrities have their own beauty woes and can come out looking this amazing. 5 things on the DNC list…

President Obama charges into Charlotte this week with Mitt Romney squarely in his sights and George W. Bush in his rear-view mirror. His biggest challenge, however, may be taking the measure of Barack Obama, circa 2008.

Four years ago, Obama overcame the once seemingly inevitable Hillary Rodham Clinton and held back John McCain by promising hope and change to a nation hobbled by recession and war. This week, his biggest problem may be explaining how hope and change feeds a family — and why a first-term president who has yet to reach his goals for job creation deserves another four years to do so.

Obama doesn’t lack achievements to talk about: avoiding a financial depression, expanding health coverage to millions, ending the war in Iraq, cracking down on the excesses of Wall Street. It’s the continued anxiety on Main Street that stands between the president and re-election in November — summed up best by an unemployment rate that last stood below 8% the month he took office. Jay-Z and Pearl Jam’s ‘fist-pumping’ close out performance at Made in America Fest 2012…

Jay Z Pearl JamIf closing out a two-day festival with an intense two-hour set wasn’t enough for Pearl Jam, then bringing out the man who organized it sealed the deal. Jay-Z joined the group for its second-to-last encore Sunday with a rocking version of his signature hit “99 Problems.”

While Jay closed out the first night of the Budweiser Made in America Festival, he handed the torch to the Seattle-based band grunge rockers and they did not disappoint. Their 25-song set saw tens of thousands of fans jumping, dancing, and singing on the muggy September night to the band’s well-known tracks like “Alive,” “Better Man,” and “Jeremy.”

For the song “Unemployable,” Vedder told the crowd it was about a hard-working family man who did all the right things in life, but became the victim of job cuts. He said sometimes the so-called job creators are creating jobs outside the United States. Read more here and watch the video clip below…

Behind-the-scenes: Solange Knowles‘ ethnic video shoot

Solange Knowles recently flew to  Cape Town (Langa & Khayelitsha) South Africa with  her mother Tina Knowles to shoot an eclectic music video for her new single ‘Losing You’. The “Losing You” track is a mix of “eclectic 80s’ soul with African percussion influences” and is expected to be premiere in October.

While in South Africa, she also spent some time doing a photoshoot for ELLE South Africa’s November issue directed by Fashion Director Asanda Sizaniwas.

In one of the photos below you’ll notice the young Knowles sporting an orange nail polish by Rimmel, a company she is spokesperson for. She  also spoke to Sunday Times about the photoshoot:

“The locations for my video will largely be inspired by the color in the architecture and townships around here. We’ll just take a camera and see what happens.”

Louisiana High School reunion only invites WHITE graduates…

I think it’s obvious that certain individuals/organizations in America want and loathe to be talked about, if it were not so, this TRAGIC reunion would not have taken place. This is UN-AMERICAN!

A high school reunion in Louisiana is attracting national attention thanks to an unusual invite which includes “white graduates only.” The St. Martinsville Senior High School event for the class of 1973 was supposed to be the first integrated reunion in the school’s history, but the invitation seems to suggest otherwise. The New York Daily News reports:

Louisiana high school grads wanted to break from tradition this year and hold a homecoming after-party for members of the Class of 1973 that wasn’t segregated based on race.

But instead of coming together at St. Martinville Senior High School in St. Martinville, the invitation inadvertently mentioned the event was for “white graduates only” — a shocking display of 21st century divide.

“This year, 2012, was going to be the first year that we were going to integrate it,” Liza Chance, one of the organizers, told ABC affiliate KATC in Lafayette.

“I don’t understand why this went the way it did,” she added.

CNN camera woman speaks out about incident…

Patricia Carroll, a CNN camerawoman at the Republican National Convention, who had peanuts thrown at her and was called an “animal,” has spoken to the media for the first time since the incident earlier this week in Tampa, Florida.

She spoke to the Maynard Institute’s Richard Prince for his Thursday Journal-isms column:

Carroll, who agreed to be named for the first time, said she does not want her situation to be used for political advantage. “This situation could happen to me at the Democratic convention or standing on the street corner. Racism is a global issue,” she said by telephone from Tampa.

Carroll said no one took the names of the attendees who threw peanuts at her Tuesday on the convention floor and told her, “This is what we feed animals.” She alerted fellow camera operators, producers and CNN security. The head of the delegation — she was not certain of the state — told her the perpetrators must have been alternates, not delegates.

But Carroll, 34, said that as an Alabama native, she was not surprised. “This is Florida, and I’m from the Deep South,” she said. “You come to places like this, you can count the Black people on your hand. They see us doing things they don’t think I should do.” Click here to read more…

First Lady Michelle Obama at DNC 2012…

First Lady Michelle Obama never once mentioned Mitt Romney’s name. But in her speech before the Democratic National Convention speech Monday night, she offered a dramatic contrast between her husband, Barack Obama, and his Republican opponent, insisting he understands the struggles of average Americans because he’s lived through those tough times, too.

“Barack knows the American Dream because he’s lived it, and he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we’re from, or what we look like, or who we love,” Michelle Obama said.

“He believes that when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed.”

It was a speech meant to bolster her husband’s legislative accomplishments — and it did, as the first lady touted the president’s push for health care reform, the auto industry bailout and efforts to keep down student loan interest rates.

But not unlike Ann Romney’s speech on behalf of her husband at last week’s Republican National Convention, Michelle Obama also sought to humanize the president, and to remind voters of the working class background she and her husband came from.

With tears in her eyes, she spoke of her father, a pump operator at a Chicago water plant, and how her husband was raised by a single mother and by his grandparents. Click here to read more…

First Lady‘s full speech at DNC 2012…

“Over the past few years as First Lady, I have had the extraordinary privilege of traveling all across this country.  And everywhere I’ve gone, in the people I’ve met, and the stories I’ve heard, I have seen the very best of the American spirit. I have seen it in the incredible kindness and warmth that people have shown me and my family, especially our girls.

I’ve seen it in teachers in a near-bankrupt school district who vowed to keep teaching without pay. I’ve seen it in people who become heroes at a moment’s notice, diving into harm’s way to save others…flying across the country to put out a fire…driving for hours to bail out a flooded town. And I’ve seen it in our men and women in uniform and our proud military families…in wounded warriors who tell me they’re not just going to walk again, they’re going to run, and they’re going to run marathons…in the young man blinded by a bomb in Afghanistan who said, simply, “…I’d give my eyes 100 times again to have the chance to do what I have done and what I can still do.”Click here to read more…

Women react to FLOTUS‘ DNC 2012 speech…

Michelle Obama Dnc Speech ReactionsMichelle Obama took center stage at the Democratic National Convention on September 4. Her speech was widely anticipated — especially when it came to garnering favor with women.

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) even told Glamour that the First Lady has a special ability to resonate with female voters:

“She just has a way of electrifying a crowd and relating to people. The way she has been able to balance being a spokesperson and a first lady and a great mom at the same time is something that a lot of women admire,” Klouchbar said.

And if Twitter is any measure, Michelle Obama delivered to her target audience. (“Get Me Bodied” even played when she was finishing up. Nothing like a little Beyonce to pump up a crowd.) Click here to read tweets from female Obama supporters…

Heidi Klum steps out…

How do you respond when told by an ex husband to have “more class” and not “fornicate with the help”? Well, for starters you issue a statement to People (the unofficial break-up arbitrator of the summer, it seems).

After that, you immediately step out in the hottest thing you own — at least that’s what you do when you’re a supermodel like Heidi Klum. While the 39-year old has never been a blushing flower, she left a taping of “Project Runway” yesterday in a particularly provocative slashed leather dress.

The skintight number definitely showed Seal what he’s missing (as if he didn’t already know from her bikini-filled twit pics). Click here to read more…heidi klum sexy

Kamala Harris, California Attorney General, touts controversial bank settlement in DNC 2012 speech…

Kamala Harris SpeechKamala Harris, the first female African-American and Asian American (Blasian) attorney general in California, as well as the first ethnic Indian American attorney general in the United States impressed at Wednesday night’s convention.

Harris said in her Wednesday speech at the Democratic National Convention that the $25 billion settlement between the government and the nation’s largest banks shows President Barack Obama’s leadership.

“President Obama stood with me and 48 other attorneys general in taking on the banks and winning $25 billion for struggling homeowners,” Harris said, noting that Obama also supported credit card and Wall Street reform.

“That’s leadership!” Harris continued. “That’s what President Obama did. And that’s why we need to give him another four years. We need to move forward. President Obama will fight for working families. He will fight to level the economic playing field and fight to give every American the same fair shot my family had.”

The Obama administration joined state attorneys general in negotiating a February settlement with the nation’s five largest banks following revelations in 2010 that banks had been forging documents in the foreclosure process. Bill Clinton wows at DNC 2012…

Bill Clinton Speech TextBill Clinton reminded us why we voted him into office twice on Wednesday night at the DNC 2012. A speech that can be likened to ‘Policy and Government for Dummies’ had everyone paying attention and speechless.

During and after his speech a handful of Americans joked by asking:

“Where can I vote for Clinton?”

The following is a full excerpt of the former President’s speech:

“We’re here to nominate a President, and I’ve got one in mind.
I want to nominate a man whose own life has known its fair share of adversity and uncertainty. A man who ran for President to change the course of an already weak economy and then just six weeks before the election, saw it suffer the biggest collapse since the Great Depression.”

“A man who stopped the slide into depression and put us on the long road to recovery, knowing all the while that no matter how many jobs were created and saved, there were still millions more waiting, trying to feed their children and keep their hopes alive.” Click here to read the speech in its entirety and also watch a video of the speech below…

Fitness Expert Jillian Michaels talks family with Reebok…

Jillian Michaels made her impact on the ‘Biggest Loser’ by being the personal trainer who yelled a lot, but got stellar results in the end. While the yelling has toned down a bit since becoming a mom earlier this year, Jillian is still inspiring people with her stories about parenthood.

In a recent cover and interview with Redbook, Michaels alluded to being in a good place in life. “You can’t have it all, and you have to make some tough decisions. I used to think you could, but you can’t. I didn’t understand that something has to give. Now friends will go to Vegas for the weekend and we’re like, ‘Take pictures.’ When Lu looks at me and goes, ‘Mama, I love you!’ I go, ‘Fft. Who needs Vegas?’”

Jillian has gained five pounds since becoming mom to daughter Lukensia,2, and son Phoenix,4 months, but she’s okay with that. “I look at my body and I go: ‘five pounds heavier.’ But part of me really likes it. We talk about role models for [Lukensia], like Beyoncé, who has a more curvaceous figure. My taste has changed. I prefer that look. For now, I want to look a little softer,” said the fitness guru. Bill Bellamy talks family…

Did you know Bill Bellamy was KolorBlind? Well he is, and has been happily married to his wife Kristen for 11 years. Bill Bellamy makes people laugh in person and on the small screen.

The actor and stand-up comedian is currently working on a new television series called ‘Mr. Box Office,’ in which he is forced to teach at one of the worst schools in Los Angeles after having a confrontation with paparazzi. Bill recently sat down with Essence magazine to talk about family life.

On the fatherhood experience:
“When you have a daughter your radar is up so high because now you see a side of things that you never saw before. It’s like, oh man, what is she going to think? What is her perception of what beauty is? What is it like being a young Black female in a mostly white school? I mean there are so many issues I think about now.

[My wife Kristen and I] decided to keep exposing the children to a lot of things because if you just let your kids be in the suburbs, that’s not enough. That’s not real. Our goal is to make sure that our kids are exposed to everything – this neighborhood and that neighborhood, and even everything from basketball to soccer to chess.” Click here to read the full interview…

Barbara Walters grills Kim Kardashian

Barbara Walters Kim KardashianBarbara Walters awkwardly grilled Kim Kardashian on Wednesday’s “The View.” The legendary broadcaster has interviewed Kardashian a number of times, but she phrased some personal questions rather awkwardly this time around.

Walters first commented on Kardashian’s appearance. “I said to Joy that I’m going to tell you how gorgeous you are, and Joy said everybody’s going to think I’m coming on to you, but you are,” Walters said.

Walters then awkwardly asked about Kardashian’s boyfriend, Kanye West. “What about marriage? Do you want his child? Where are we?” she asked. VP Biden’s speech at DNC 2012…

In Vice President Joe Biden’s remarks to the Democratic National Convention on Thursday evening, he said he had come to “take you inside the White House to see the President as I see him every day.”

Read his speech below:

My fellow Democrats, and my favorite Democrat. Jilly, I want you to know that Beau, Hunt, Ashley, and I are so proud of you. We admire the way you treat every single student who walks into your classroom. You not only teach them. You give them confidence.

And the passion you bring to easing the burden on the families of our warriors. They know you understand what they’re going through. It makes a difference. And I’m grateful. So grateful that you said Yes on that fifth try. And Beau, thank you for placing my name in nomination to be Vice President of the United States. I accept.

My fellow Americans, four years ago, a battered nation turned away from the failed policies of the past-and turned to a leader-who they knew, could lift our nation out of crisis. Our journey isn’t finished. We still have more to do. But today, I say to you, my fellow citizens: In the face of the deepest economic crisis in our lifetimes– this nation proved itself. We’re as worthy as any generation that has gone before us. Click here to read the full speech…

President Obama Makes Case for 2nd Term: ‘Harder’ Path to ‘Better Place’

President Obama accepted the Democratic nomination for a second term on Thursday night, making a forceful argument that he had rescued the economy from disaster and ushered in a recovery that would be imperiled by a return to Republican stewardship.

Describing himself as “mindful of my own failings,” Mr. Obama conceded the country’s continuing difficulties while defending his record and pleading for more time to carry out his agenda. He laid out a long-term blueprint for revival in an era obsessed with short-term expectations.

“I won’t pretend the path I’m offering is quick or easy; I never have,” Mr. Obama told a packed arena of 20,000 party leaders and activists. “You didn’t elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear. You elected me to tell you the truth. And the truth is, it will take more than a few years for us to solve challenges that have built up over decades.” Click here to read full speech…

Michelle Obama‘s outfit at DNC 2012…

If that’s not an official FLOTUS motto, it should be, as First Lady Michelle Obama wrapped up her Democratic National Convention fashion tear on Thursday in a stunning eggplant printed dress — right alongside her mom Marian Robinson.

The first lady took to the seats in her final appearance of the convention clad in a deep aubergine boatneck printed Laura Smalls dress to watch President Obama’s big speech at the Time Warner arena in Charlotte. Flanked by SLOTUS Dr. Jill Biden, Mrs. O also brought along a special guest who’s less often seen: her mother Marian Robinson, who kept things monochromatic in a similarly-printed black and white frock. Twinsies! But while FLOTUS jazzed things up with a purple brooch, Mom opted for sparkly earrings. Click here to read more…

Celebs Turn Out for the DNC…

If there is any competition for the star power of Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama’s speeches, it might be arriving tonight at the DNC. President Obama has a long list of celebrity supporters (counting Nicki Minaj out) and many of them are making appearances at the convention to prove their devotion.

Actresses Eva Longoria, Scarlett Johansson, and Kerry Washington will be speaking Thursday night, while Mary J. Blige and the Foo Fighters will be performing.

Singer James Taylor already preformed in the afternoon, saying, “I’m an old white guy, and I love Barack Obama.”Click here for full photo gallery…

Single Ladies missing from Republican and Democratic Convention

If there’s one cause both left and right-wing Americans can stand united behind, it’s moms: both the Republican and Democrat Conventions couldn’t have been more mom-obsessed if they had actually taken place in a hospital maternity ward. But almost half of all Americans are single, and 44 percent of American women between the age of 15 and 44 are not giving birth, up 10 percent from 1990. So where are all the childless women representatives?

“If aa single, childless middle-aged woman whose name isn’t Condi Rice had given one of those speeches, I’d like to think it would have gone a little something like this,” writes Katherine Lanpher for XX Factor. “Good Evening fellow and sister Americans. I have been asked to speak to you tonight as an average American: a single woman who doesn’t have children.”

But, as Lanpher points out, a single woman apparently has to be a nun or called a slut (like Sandra Fluke) to get to speak about being an American on behalf of either party. Click here to read more…

Glamour Magazine interviews Paris Jackson

Forget Paris Jackson‘s ultra-famous father – or her equally famous family, for that matter. The teenager wants to be taken on her terms. The teen will be featured in Glamour Magazine’s October issue.

“I love my dad, and I’m proud to be his daughter, Jackson, 14. I just don’t think the title ‘M.J.’s daughter’ fits me.”

“A lot of people think that [my dad’s] the only reason I’m making it, but I want to show that I do have talent and that I can make it if I try,” she tells the magazine. “I want to be my own person.”

Jackson maintains an active Twitter presence, and has already booked her first movie role – in the upcoming film Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys. One person who has been especially supportive of the teen: her aunt.

“A lot of people don’t want me to [be an actress], she says, “but Aunt La Toya believes in me. She heard me play a little guitar and sing. She really does encourage me; it’s just awesome of her.”

Paris and her siblings – Prince, 15, and Blanket, 10, – were recently embroiled in some family drama over their custody, but the dispute was resolved last month with grandma Katherine Jackson reinstated as their guardian.
