KolorBlind Spotlight: Ellen Pompeo … doctoring her KolorBlind life!

Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey is our favorite Surgical Resident Doctor on Grey’s Anatomy. The outspoken doctor with a natual flair for  medicine is one hardworking woman we’re almost not able to keep up with.

From her humble beginnings as a waitress/bartender in Miami and SoHo Bar & Grill in New York City to appearing in commercials when an agent approached her…we have to wonder if she even knows the meaning of relaxing.

Pompeo’s determination eventually took her from appearing in commercials for Citibank and L’Oréal to featuring in minor roles on television shows like Strangers with Candy, Friends, Law & Order and a handful of others.

Her major breakthrough didn’t come until director Brad Silberling cast her in a role as Jake Gyllenhaal’s love interest in the 2002 film Moonlight Mile. It was all uphill from there for the television actress who currently stars in the ABC medical drama Grey’s Anatomy – a drama that started in 2005 and is in its eighth/ninth season.

With 9 nominations and 4 awards under her belt, Pompeo is well ahead of her game:

  • 2005 Nominated Teen Choice Award
  • 2006 Nominated Screen Actors Guild Award
  • 2006 Nominated Teen Choice Award
  • 2006 Won Satellite Award
  • 2007 Nominated Golden Globe Award
  • 2007 Won Screen Actors Guild Award
  • 2007 Won Satellite Award
  • 2007 Won National Italian American Foundation
  • 2008 Nominated Screen Actors Guild Awards
  • 2008 Nominated Ewwy Award
  • 2009 Nominated Gold Derby TV Award
  • 2010 Nominated People’s Choice Award
  • 2011 Nominated People’s Choice Award

Ellen Pompeo, Chris Ivery Married

But what’s success if you don’t have anyone to share it with? Pompeo married  Christopher Ivery, a music producer, on November 9, 2007 in New York City. The beautiful KolorBlind ceremony was graced with the presence of none other than NYC’s number one citizen – mayor Michael Bloomberg. The mayor served as a legal witness to their beautiful union.

If you’re one of those people who believes fairytales don’t exist in today’s world, then think again. The couple met in a grocery store back in 2003. They were both walking the aisles of a grocery store in Los Angeles when cupid struck. Who says love can’t happen in ‘regular places’? What did Cupid use to tie them together: their love for the Boston Celtics. Pompeo and Ivery are huge fans of the team.

One of the first things the lovebirds realized they had in common, was the fact that they both grew up just outside Boston — but the serendipity didn’t stop there. Apparently they grew up “just 10 miles away from each other” near Cambridge, MA, where Harvard’s legendary campus is. I guess cupid was playing games with them all along. What’s the likelihood of living just 10 miles away from your future spouse?

This is why I advise those interested in an interracial relationship or relationship in general to have a warm demeanor when they go out. You never know when cupid could strike and love comes knocking.

Pompeo’s fairytale life continues as she gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Stella Luna, on September 15, 2009. Stella Luna is one of the most adorable little girls I’ve ever seen. Take a look for yourself. She could pass as Nahla Aubry’s sister (Halle Berry‘s daughter).

How she is able to juggle a hectic Hollywood career, be a wife and mother amazes. We say kudos to this beautiful KolorBlind woman. Your story is inspiring and will inspires many more to come. Wishing you continued success in everything you do. Xo

“Patients see us as gods or they see us as monsters. But the fact is, we’re just people.”– Meredith Grey
